Research Associate

The Nanobiosym Educational and Research Institute (NERI) is a scientific educational and research institute that focuses on fundamental scientific research with humanitarian and educational benefits derived from the integration of information sciences, physics, nanoscience, and biomedicine. The institute is dedicated to catalyzing innovation across various boundaries of academia, industry, and society at large. NERI is a non-profit organization located in Cambridge, MA.  


ABOUT THE JOB POSITION

We are seeking a creative, passionate and talented Research Associate with optics, physics, EE and/or computer science experience to help advance our fundamental research in nanobiophysics. This role will include a combination of  basic science research, data analysis, statistical analysis and probability theory to explore ways to bring our nanobiophysics research forward for public benefits and find futuristic avenues for its humanitarian application.  


DUTIES  

  • Perform novel nanobiophysics research with a strong understanding of basic science principles   
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records, and prepare lab reports and research reports.
  • Advance data science with nanobiophysical systems 
  • Exercise sound scientific judgment on experiments, developing recommendations and translating these into a course of action & preparing research reports and lab reports on an ongoing basis; maintaining proper scientific notebooks and records

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience with high precision optical alignments.
  • Expertise with optics, physical sciences, data sciences & EECS engineering 
  • Experience with physics and optics and data science - maintaining proper scientific laboratory notebook and recordkeeping skills
  • An understanding of principles of statistics & probability theory
  • Experience with advanced data science and analysis models 
  • Strong data analysis and statistics and probability skills and experience. 
  • Strong understanding of optical theory and design and underlying physics and engineering principles      

PREFERRED

  • 2-5 years of academic or industry research experience in related field
  • MS degree in Physics/ EE/ CS or other hard physical sciences with strong quantitative math/ computer science background.

  • You are enthusiastic and positive, with strong skills in the areas of dependability, flexibility, and maturity
